May 11 1942. Got slip for Mother's day from Hilda. Rained all day. Took Frank in to work at Rahmlow's. Mtg at Union for group discussion leaders at 8:30. All day Wis Public Affairs Institute. Heard [Toersch?], Edgren, Lessohie, + Markham. Had charge of a group discussion of 16 people. 1943. Even windier wash day than last week! Ran a hospital, almost, with K + Frank in bed nearly all day. Frank worked some with bees. I called on Mrs. Henning. Dale stayed there over night. had first asparagus, radishes, + rhubarb. Hoed peas. Wrote Hans. 81° 1944. Workmen took out my concrete bathtub and put in nice steel one. Helped serve lunch at Canteen. Mrs. Meythaler came home with me. Walked to garden in eve. 1945. Got April allotment check. Baked bread ironed, took nap. Went to Dr. McCaleb for another Xray treatment bought round trip ticket to Chi for June 3 + "The Nation's Capital" for Lois Jean. Book Class. 1946. Baked bread + choc chip cookies. Kathryn + I shopped for groceries at the Coop. Saw Doris W. there. We met Frank at the 4:30 bus. He is sunburned! He + I went to Univ. hosp. to see Signe then he went to Seigler's. He gave me lb. chocolates.
