1942. Last day of Public Affairs Just. Didn't sleep well - so took a nap! Very worth-while series of meeting - tho not enuf there. Heavy rain nat 6 P.M Letter from Hans in N. Carolina 1943. Polished silver, dusted buffet, baked bread + cookies, did some left-over mending, washed all upstairs windows. Went to Mother's Club in eve. Only 530 at 500. 6 tables. Very chilly. Frank home with sore throat again. 88º 1944. Baked nut bread and honey cookies. Signe had day off and made most of 2 pr. pajamas here. I helped her. She gave me 3 3 hdkp +3 cakes Lavender Soap - K sent me some iris + white violets from home. 60º 68º 1945. Mother's Day. Wore white gardenia corsage from Signe - she also gave me 6 red roses - Hilda bought them - K. gave me her photo. Hilda's not done yet. Set out 6 tomato plants, went to Public Speakers' Bureau mtg. Rain in PM. 1946. Did the washing alone, inc. a barracks bog half full of Frank's army clothes. Took nap, cut out white rayon satin slip, mended, etc. Pauline seamed [spilled ink]
