1942 And it rained! Cistern full + lard saturated. Sent Hans 2 airmail letters to Washington - one with money. Signe came out for 2 days - I arranged for playlet for Guild. 1943 - Slept 9 hrs. or more. Rained all day. Washed some windows, went to Madison for Sig and her stuff; home at 1:15. Dale here for church. Baked bread and rhubarb, pinned + drew 2 chickens, mopped, hung new hall curtains. K came in P.M. in rain. 88º 1944. Fine washday. Got acquainted with Mrs. Wakefield of Ind - who washed a blanket for me. Hans spaded a lost strip in garden in eve. 62º 85º 1945 Finished last Danish blouse, except for a little trim. Also finished another skirt. K + I set out last tomatoes in eve. Read. 1946. Had call from Lydia circle of WSCS to talk Thursday PM - but decided not to.
