May 25 1942. Fine washday- washed bedding etc. + washed my hair. Took nap, ironed. Got snapdragons from Schmidts + set them out. 1943 Cole + windy. Baked cookies + rhubarb pie, wrote Comments + Sig. Letter from Hans he begins with AM[H?] June 7 Took Mrs. Geo. Ziegler to guest day at guild. I took 2 bouquets- + brought my plants home. With 80 guests in dining room. I was asked to say grace. K came home at 7. 1944 Tried to find a table in Alex. Did find a second hand store. Basted up light flowered dress. Mr. Herman Erickson here in eve- formerly of Wyoming, Iowa. 77° 1945. Ironed + typed book review. Went in at 3:30, but Mr. Cartwright wasn't in. Saw G. Gronbech and Miss Clark. Walked to 19th + I, where got my right hand painted red. Back to class. Made 5 buttonholes for K- + shortened my green + white striped dress. 1946. Drizzle when Hilda + I left Oskar's. Called at Hartingsen's, + to see Melba in Lost Nation. Went east instead of south + wandered around Wapsie bottoms more than 20 miles to find Toronto! Then I drove from Tipton to W.L. Charles at Ft. Lewis, Wash. enroute to New J. Hazle home frm Ia. Cy., Ethel from Davenport. Jay graduates from WLHS, 10th of 34 in class.
