1942 Hans + I went to Middleton for asparagus. Canned 7 pt. Transplanted cabbage, etc. from cold frame. Big rain at dusk. Hilda sewed. Wrote 3 letters. 1943. Started bread + finished writing '15 circle - then went back to bed at 7 + slept till 8:30. "Skippy" Miller mowed my lawn. Wayne and Doris came for cot, 3/4 bed, and walnut highboy. I wheelhoed 3 rows, transplanted stocks, asters, etc. + last of painted daisies. Quite cool. 58º 72º 1944. Thru washing by 9:15! Did ironing + mending, lot of cross stitching. in eve helped Hans do lot of copying of powd. milk plants. 1945. Bath at Daniels' + breakfast. Picked Shasta daisies, iris, etc. for Mrs. Offerdahl, who had been sick. Got my mail at P.O. mostly from Sig. Sent her panties, flower seeds, etc. Talked with Mrs. Victoria, [illegible] Stanks, etc. To Woman's Club luncheon at 1 at the Pines as Daniels' guest. Talked briefly, "grand" opera - Cooking Prunes. Got suitcase, supper at Prof. Roberts' Bus to Weidemann's - bam "shuttle" 1946. Our cabin crude, but we slept. Fire in sheet iron stove. Tetons at sunrise grand. Snaps mirrored in Jackson Lake. Breakfast at Jackon, Bluebird Cafe. Climbed over Teton Pass 8429 ft. Water boiled in car. Into Idaho for more than a day in Snake river Valley. At Idaho Falls, 1st stoplights since Omaha! Nice farms but much sage brush.
