Clara Steen Skott diary, 1942-1946

June 9

1942. Had even larger washing than last week - and no help. very tired. Baked bread. Picked up Kat Sak's at 8 and we went to S.S. board mtg. at Critser's. 
1943. Warmer in P.M. Mended, hoed, cleaned up house. Joe and Dorothy Jean Wright of Memphis, Tenn. + K here for supper. Joe at Truax - jean a Celon Christ. And my elec. oven is off!
1944. Ironed linens, cleaned up apt. baked cookies, made ice cream, etc. Mrs. Rast and Mrs. Cullinan here for supper + till 9. Hoed garden in P.M.
1945 Slept fine again - Wis. air is really fine. Went in on 10 AM bus. Hadley's for lunch + took Emma circle letter. Downtown about an hr. rode with them. Bus to Kirkpatrick's - called Ardis + Mary Mack. Went to [illegible] picnic at Vila Park with the K's. Saw many I knew. Vernon drove us to Comm. Church. annual mtg. Mr. Rabe had me talk. 
1946 We left about 11; from Sweet Home I rode with Frank, Anna, + Dan Ashton, while John rode with girls. To headwaters of the Metolius, 80 miles across the Cascades. Picnic dinner, Coyle's + Ashton's. Home about 9.
