June 17 1942. Mrs. Mictl + Shirley, Alice May-Elaine picked 5 1/2 crates in A.M. Had them all sold-more than $10. before dark. I sealed 5 qt., made a batch strawberry-pineapple preserves. Had first peas. Worked in flower + veg. gardens. 1943. Busy from 5 on. Thru washing by 9:15. Nice day- not too hot. Met Mrs. Goth in village at 10, bot 16# asparagus. Taught DVBS class at 10:30, brought home the 6 boy + Mrs. Roberts. Canned 18 pt. asparagus. Janet picked 6 qt. berries. 1944. Picked first peas + beans from Potomac garden. Fixed over 8 year old Swiss dress. for hot weather dress. Cross-stitched Telegram from Frank, back safe to New York. 1945 Didn't sleep from 2 to 5- too much to eat yesterday. Rex + I heard Lee Albaugh tell about his 10 mo. in Italy. Roast beef, etc. for dinner, Allan's here. I walked to Whitson's, Jay's bro. Ora + wife there; supper there ice cream, strawberries. Frank phoned me eve. Harry Browns at Dora's in eve. 92° 1946 An "unusual" dry north wind blowing all forenoon. Millie + all the kids- Ella May, Lorraine, + Douglas Robinson- went to D.V> Bible school. Verna also came up from Crockett to help with it. I typed story of my trip in triplicate for Melba, MTT + Kathryn. Read "I Heard the Angels Sing."
