June 23 1942. Did ironing, baked bread, canned 5 qt strawberries. Acted as sec. pro tem at Guild. Mrs. Olson pres. Mrs. Sholts had program. Moved lemon lilies to perennial garden. 1943 Fine washday. Did K's and a heavy quilt extra. Did some mending- Baked bread + oatmeal cookies, made ice cream. Wrote Hilda + Sig + Hans. Cooled off in eve in lawn chair. 1944. Sultry day. Mrs. Wakefield went to garden with me. I planted Swiss chard. Finished Hilda's p.j.'s + sewed on my pinafore. Called at Mrs. Winfrey's but she wasn't home. Rainy. 1945. Really hot. I canned 8 pt strawberries. Allan's here in P.M. to pick 10 qt berries. Teddy + I "slept". Worked a little more on Dora's needlepoint. Rex + I to Ames in eve. Flo brot me 2 letters from Hans. 1946. Hazel + I took Will to sing in choir at Cong. church at Campbell then went to see Ruth + little Sue Eloise. Drove past miles of peach, apricot, + Bing cherry orchards. all irrigated.
