1942 Took big bouquet of pinks to church. 46 at S.S.
Very hot - a sudden change in weather
Wrote Bess + Hans + Geo + Mary.
Read in shade of elms, in swing in eve.
1943. Much cooler after a hot week. Was very sick most of night. Mailed letters to Hans, Sig, Helen, Grace K. + Classmates + Upper Room to Sig. Paraffined 7 pt. sunshine preserves. Canned 7 pt. jam. Picked dishpan peas + put to freeze. Baked bread + cake. 
1944. Baked bread + oatmeal cookies, canned 4 pt. beans. Listened to unanimous nomination of Dewey for Rep. Pres. + Bricker for VP. Went in on bus ta 4, supper with Hans + Paul P. in Ag. cafeteria. Last dansk lesson till Aug. Home 11:30 - telegram from K. We met her at Union Depot. 
1945. Canned 30th pint strawberries, wrote several letters, "harrowed" some in Dora's garden, and planted some Fordhook Bush Limas and some U.S.D.A. Henderson's Improved dwarf limas. 
1946 Awake 1-3. Up at 8, woozy. Picked sweet corn for lunch, 1st from Paul's 5 acres. got pictures we took on trip - some very good. Took nap.
