1942  Canned 6 pt. veg - Hotter yet.  K in all day at [Union?].  The worked at [Sale's?]  Sig went to Ardis' for weekend.  I worked on my divinity dress.  Washed my hair.  Elynor here.  Visited 4 4H gardens + 8 members in eve.
1943.  Baked bread + oatmeal cookies and double batch of choc. chip cookies - tired.  Wheel hoed a little.  Rahmlow + Miss Walsh made backyard call.  Cleaned downstairs.  Haus + I bought old church in eve + we started houseplans.
1944  Did big washing, baked bread, slept hour or so, ironed some, picked limas for supper, made ice cream, made some buttonholes in eve.  K. called on Dr [illegible] in apt 1309.
1945.  Josephine came out + we canned 14 qt. beans.  Had fire in fireplace!  In P.M. I met Flo, Marie, + Karen downtown + we went to Dem. Club to hear Mrs. John [Vanderloon?].
63° 1946  Too much food made it imperative I do more walking on deck, in spite of fog.  Went to ship's library at 10:30.  Got Edna Ferber's "Saratoga Trunk" and read most of it.  Sat in cabin in eve for a change.
