1942. Canned 9 qt. beans, most of which Signe picked. Baked bread, rolls, + applecake. Tired. Wrote George, + Doris Weidemann. 1943. 44 at S.S. Took twin rose bouquets to church. Note from Zelda [Stanke?] Adele + Fred here 3 hours - nice visit. Wrote several letters. Hot 1944. Baked choc. chip cookies + sent to Frank. Worked on surg. dressing 10:45-3 - got Red Cross uniform ordered 2 mo. ago. 1945 Did the ironing in my sun suit then took treatment from Dr. Gulden, Dora's osteopath - for my digestion. It tired me. Took nap. Cut out bemberg dress for Dora. Started [illegible] pillowcase for her. Hot 1946. Slept till nearly 8! Our room is wonderful, in a crazy world. Mrs. Lund + I had breakfast on 2nd floor , Park Hotel. Got some Chinese money. Today exchange note is 2450 to $1. We walked to Bubbling Well Road - took bus to UNRRA office, saw Mr. [Roe?] about trunk. Lunch there. Tried to find 128 Museum Road - Quite a walk! Mrs. Weaver took me to Chinese dinner. Saw Joe [sandwich?] + [Hamburger?].
