1942. Did washing - fine hot day. Schwenn's came up for beans. Cut out and worked on white rayon skirt, made drop cookies Haus phoned from Ithaca, NY Letters from Hans, Pauline. 1943. Awake from 3:15 on . Up at 4:40, bathed got Frank off. Made applesauce. Joy left at 8:20. Ironed, wrote Comments. Mrs - Schwenn + I planned Mrs. Whalen's party. At guild, I tied for first in scrambled Bible names - Watered gardens in eve- 91° 1944. Home all day - cleaned, washed + mended a few things. Sent birthday cards to Elaine [Frisch?] + Mrs. Whalen. 1945. Sewed on Dora's bemberg dress. In P.M she, Florence, + I saw Greer Garson in "The Valley of Decision". She + Rex went to Ames in eve. A rainstorm drove me in from back yard. 90° 1946. Breakfast alone in "Peacock Room" of Park Hotel. Waited for UNRRA bus. Chinese class at 10-11 + 12-1. In between, changed some money and mailed 6 letters + 3 cards to U.S. for less than $1. (Only 1 airmail). At lunch, a girl from Info. desk offered to help me find "Mr. Rasmussen" We walked up 9 stories at 128 went to 218 got info. then I found 2 Danes -
