August 11 1942. We ironed. I baked bread, bot corn ready for locker. Took nap. Called on Louise Manebetsch + Hazel Zentner in eve- both sick. Rain 3-6 1943. Hans called me at 5 to get him at [Nulo?] depot. Dozed till nearly 8. he slept all forenoon. Was at Postville Iowa Buttermakers' Mtg. last eve. I did some cleaning, canned 4 pt. corn, did a 40 piece washing 4:30-5:20. Picked pickles. Set up new table, unpacked chairs. 1944. DIdn't feel like going to church; K reported the supply preacher wasn't too good. Asked HIlda out + we drove to Ft. Belvoir by 4. Brot back trunkload of Sig's things, + Sig + Sgt. G for supper- had to borrow 1 chair. Had chicken salad, tomatoes, strbry jam, choc ice cream. 1945 Slept 8 hrs. straight on train. Hans, who flew in via Iceland, met me at 8:45.
