1942. Verna + I helped Mary wash, picked up 2 pails apples for me, took a few pictures in George's cornfield - Took her to her grandma's at 4, called on Margaret Fitzgerald at pool, Geo. Hise. At Leslies for supper. 1943. Hans left on 8:20 bus for Marinette Co. I baked bread, wrote Comments, took them + news in. Called on Mrs. Roberts + Mrs. Chatt about Sept. Woman's Club program, helped cut 6 aprons out for guild at church. Hemmed 3 dishtowels - foot power 1944. We went to Madison with Weidemann's. Maybe sold typewriter! Hans in [Quisling?] Clinic till 4. I mailed letters, ate lunch at Bethel Lutheran Church, to Middleton on noon bus, rode with Mrs. Patton. Walk to Wittenburg's, found moth in Sig's red coat, called on Mrs. Davis, all of us ate supper at Geo. Zeigler's, Hans + I slept in our old room. 1945. Translated a Swedish poem into an Eng one. We worked on screen porch at Adele's. 87° 1946 Ch'u Shu, the "Stopping of Heat". Mr. Hunter phoned me a wire from Hans, 21/8' that He will come as soon as possible + "hold all mail"! Walked from 10 to 12 down Hatomen, over to Morrison St. Bought [l.?] soap + thread. Chat with Frederick Wiener, Austrian from tea till supper. Sunset on roof. Dr Woolf + Miss [Stohr?] UNRRA as anxious to get to Mukden as Hans to come!
