1942 Ironed and did a lot of mending. Had fine lima beans. Took nap. To Roberts' + Zeigler's in eve. Hans phone from Whitson's. I arranged list of garden chairmen for township + phoned them. 1943. Slept till 8. Baked graham raisin bread. made 2 1/2 qt. sour crout, fixed up 3 jars 9 day pickles, cleaned up house some. Hans came home on noon bus. Chilly. 1944. Hans + I drove W's car to Middleton, expressed a suitcase home, got letter from Bess Clark at P.O., got bank statement, called on Mrs. Utter + Daniel's. Had lunch with Mrs. Wittenburg. then she took us to Verona; Bus to Maq - supper there. Oskar got us, the folks there. + Amanda came over. We talked late. 1945. Breakfast at Julius Ehlers'. Drove to Ames by noon. Stop at Cedar Falls to see Redaktor Bang of Dannevirke. Dora somewhat better. 1946 Borrowed the house iron and ironed 4 shirts, etc. Low voltage doesn't make for speedy ironing! From 2 to 4 the Coulsons and we went in UNRRA car east of East Gate, out into country. Took several pictures. Nap after tea. Showed the Coulsons snaps of Manchuria. Vistit with Mr. Ln of Manchuria CNRRA.
