September 16 1942. Frank has flu- Did big ironing. Took Mrs. Roberts + Mrs. Long for Pheasant Garden + Nutrition chairmen to storage meeting at Verona in P.M. K + I to S.S. board mtg at Critsen's in eve. Made 7 big buttonholes for her smock. 1943. Made 8 calls- sold 3 bonds! (Taverns selling own) Hans came home at 7 A.M. I went to Belleville WSCS with 20 others; rode with Mrs. Rabe. In eve went to 4H leaders mtg. then waited an hr. in bus depot for Hans from Whitewater. He slept, + walked from Top Hat. Hilda out in eve. 82° [1944] DId a little shopping in Alex. "Sarge" here hour or so in P.M. Picked last lima + more string beans. Caught up on "Neils Ebbesøn". Wrote about FEA for MTT. 1945. Cooler. We went to church in Alex. One person called me by name! Mr. Whitbeck called in p.M. re church pledge. In eve called on Lt. + Mrs. Pitcher 922 So. Washington. Hans working on scrapbook No.3. 1946. While Hans conferred with CNRRA + Paoting Chamber of Commerce about mfg. of more farm implements, I typed two articles for Miss Gould on her upstairs screened porch. Hans + I walked to city wall, I got picture of threshing millet. Wonderful food, etc. here.
