September 30 Sunny 1942. Got yeast from Cornwell's + baked bread and appelkuchen. Frank home with cold + aches. Got 7 circle letter; wrote 7 circle, Hilda, Adele 28th 1943. Started laundry fires, but too cloudy, + I didn't feel much like washing, so didn't. Took Hans to 6:35 bus in Middleton for Marshfield. Sold enough cards at Guild to make my sales to date, $10. Mrs. Schreiber gave review of Willkie's "One World". Hilda + Frank in bed all day with colds. 1943. Ironed- shocked up sweet corn. Sent in last of $965.25 pledges for War Bonds- or $1275 at maturity. Sent in 8 4H record books. 44. Turned percale sheet. Finished first danish dress, removed cuffs from Hans' best trousers. Started Skott family circle letter- how far will it go? 1945. We go off war Time- set clocks back an hr. Jo + Kenneth Diehl + we drove to Skyline Drive, from Front Ryoal t- Panorama. Clouds got so thick up there we went down into Shenandoah Valley. Picnic inner on "Hogback Mt." Damp- Had a flat when 4 miles from home. Kirk's called while we were gone. 1946 Had a session with Fru Christiansen before I walked to Hospital. Had lunch- native food I didn't care for- at Dr. Henke's. Mrs. Babos brought letter from Frank in P.M. We wrote to him, and I typed Hans' in eve.
