October 1 1942. Frank still home. I hemmed white skirt which had shrunk, finished hemming Signe's set of Mexican napkins. To Sept. mtg. of Mother's Club at school- no cards this year except in eve. Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Long gave reports + dem. from Garden meeting. 1943. Awake 4-6. Washed cold frame window-frames for Mr. Fuss to paint, as it was too drizzly to paint outside. He put first coat on bathroom. I baked bread, cleaned, picked last limas. Hilda made lemon pies. Adeles's here for supper. Kathryn home for supper + overnight. 71° 1944 Sunny for a change. Wrote MTT. We went to garden- had an ear sweet corn! Drove to Fort Kemble Park for ISC picnic. 100+ there Gertrude Gronbech, sec. Ben Hibben, pres. We + Fred Rossiters ate together. Kirkpatricks, Mary Keeney, an Obey. Sybil Lentner Danielson, Lois De Vaull Crouse among those we knew. Took 2 girls home- Marjorie Askew of Stockport. 1945. Made pants of Kathryn's flannel pajamas. Packed Hilda's quilt, cushion, blanket, etc. + sent to her. At 1st of Publ. Sp. Beu. training course, Z Mrs. Zoller, Mrs. Tripp, Mrs. Gray, Mrs. [blank] and a few new ones. Hans went to doctor- and I had to climb in one of windows, ruining a pr. hose. 1946 Clocks set back an hour for "Winter Time". No furnace needed yet. Walked to hospital Chaplain Baird of Union Church + another chaplain at Dr. Henke's also for lunch, + children's worker from Jade Fountain area. Typed letters to Signe + Frank for Hans. Hans sat up 5 minutes. Rain in eve; it began as I entered our huling.
