1942. Cloudy with rain in eve. Baked bread + apfelkuchen, honey oatmeal cookies, + lemon drops. Washed + ironed 2 blouses, etc. Took Hazel (chm.) in to Guild food sale at Atkins'. Signe came home. Dressed a chicken. 1943 K, Hans + I took Hilda to 10 A.M. train to Washington, then heard E. Stanley Jones on "Our Personal + National Destiny" at Wesleyan Meth. church. Read, napped, studied dansk. Baked cookies. 49º 64º 1944. Ironed, baked bread, wrote several short danish articles. Had picture taken at Murphy's for overseas. To Canteen meeting - ate piece of lemon pie (middle). Invited to Grace K's for mtg of D.C. Home Ec. Clubb, but didn't go. 55º 1945. My shoulders still lame. Washed - it was quite windy hanging out. Walked to Pub. Sp. Bur. - nice Red Cross is at 709 Cameron St. now. Mr. Spray of Eastern Area talked on Public Information. 60º 1946. Very chilly + windy, but clear most of day. Walked to hospital + back, except after I bought a nice chrysanthemum with 11 buds coming out to bloom (for 700 CNC!) I had to get rickshaw - rest of way. Hans sat up 2 hr, shaved himself, played solitaire, etc. Nice flannel pajamas + robe made by ARC. Goodby to Coulsons, who leave for Nanking by CNAC early in the emorning. More indigestion.
