October 9 1942. Cleaned + waxed bathroom floor + linoleums, washed front room windows _ did other cleaning. Hans came home from Washington at 2. Brot me electric pad form DC. Letters fro Bertha S., Emily, V letter from Wayne. 44° 1943. Swept garage, cleaned up house. Baked cream cake, bread pudding. Had Dr. Allen out for Frank, gave him sulfa tablets. Walked to village for books for Frank, Mr + Mrs. Ruth brot me home. Hans home a little after 6. I made Frank pajamas. 54 67° 19[44?] Finished 3 of the blue Danish dresses. Took them to Chris Nielsen's, 126 N. Fairfax St. in West Falls Church to mtg. of Ladies' Auxiliary to the Danish Club. Took me from 7:30 to 9:30 to get there. They talked dansk, but drank + smoked too much. 1945. Ironed- after Hans fixed my cord, which blew out. Baked bread + applekuchen. Hans in bed. Cold still bad. I made buttonholes in K's pajamas and let down my blue gabardine dress. Mrs. Norberg here in eve. Baked filled cookies. 79° 1947. Pressed my new blue wool dress _ blouse, ironed, mened. Hans down to 1/2 digitalis per day. We went out + took time picture of "The Original Hitchhiker"- Ding How! Rev. Scratch visited us in eve- gave us July + Aug Reader's Digests to read.
