October 23 1942 Washed 5 storm windows + room windows outside + Frank put on storm windows. Cold + windy- Did some cleaning. Telegram Hans in Wash DC Began reading "Our Hawaii" Wrote Hans 1943. K + Hans off at 7:30 + Frank at 8:30, K + F each with lunches. I baked bread + cleaned up the house. Called on Mrs. Roberts, Henkel + Zeigler, came home + found U.S.O. supplies, so went to Morey's airport, Toepfer's, Sedgwick, H. Zeigler, Genge, Fisher + Kalschern. $27.50 to date. 33° 60° 1944. Did washing in spite of finger still sore with (athlete's foot)- a neighbor gave me special dope for it. Voted, sent ballot to Wis. Worked 2 hrs. in Red Cross. Sent Carmen dress, Rosemary bib, + Mother Skott stationery. Walked out from Alex. Made oatmeal cookies. 67° 1945 Ironed, baked bread, sewed on wool dress. Forgot about Ellen Story coming out for supper till she got here! Had enuf to eat- had apple crisp for dessert. She enjoyed the German pictures + others. Chet Ellickson drove out + she rode back with him. First rain for 2 weeks. 47° 72° 1946 Finished blue collar on kimono, ironed. Went by ricksha to Pres. Hosp. where both Drs. checked Hans. He has to go back to 1/2 digitalis each day for a while. Wore navy winter coat for first time. Ortha Lane here for supper + short visit. We showed a few movies.
