October 25 1942. Colder + windier. Wore pinks from by house- + new winter coat. 50 at S.S. Took nap. Wrote V-mail letter to Wayne + to Grace K, Helene, card to Dosch, hurt in auto accident. 1943. Slept 9 hrs. Made 19 U.S.O. called, inc. school. Got 21 more, Mrs. Showers sent me 29.50 for 1/2 Cleveland dist. Mrs. Henry Armald brot $112.50 for Gammon. Hans left for Green Bay, etc. I did last week's mending. Wrote Comments. Wrote 3 letters- one to Mary Nelson, widowed last week. 44° 71° 1944. Took off living room screens- and washed windows again. A lovely day. Ripped lining out of Hilda's dyed coat, began a Christmas crocheted apron, also a dresser scarf for Community bazaar Spent an hour with Mrs. Norberg. 1945 Finished blue wool dress for Anna Greisler, cut out 2 pinafore type aprons an made one- blue roses on thin white for Anna. Gladys Baker here for supper-steak, fruit cocktail, lima beans, "Danish Dessert" in graham crax pie. Partly rainy. 53° 69.8° 1946 First day of 10th mo. of Chinese lunar calendar- the day to send clothes for winter to one's ancestors. Turned very windy + chilly - I think the living need them worse. Wrote several letters + copied Mrs. Schrag's to Mennonite Review. In eve Mr. Lewis showed us more scrolls and told us of Aromanga, the Isle of Martyrs. We read dansk. Pair of nylons came from Signe! Letter from Dora on way (+Oct. R. Digest.) 5 1/2 weeks- not airmail. Miss Wemmelund + I to Y.W.C.A.
