October 27 1942. Washed in late forenoon. First time clothes froze. nice + sunny. Wrote to Beatrice, Sig. Started crocheting blue cotton rug for bazaar. K, Z + I went to joint Guild + Men's Club mtg in eve. Saw Conservation Dept. pictures. 34° 54° 1943 Washed + hung outside. Nice and sunny. Mrs. Zingg, Lavona Wittenburg came with U.S.O. money. Worked on my twp. report. TO War Chest dinner at Bethel Lutheran church at 6. Shopped a bit. Came out on 10:30 bus. 1944. Cleaned bathroom, packed lunches for us both. In + station wagon to airport, worked in ATC 11-5. Very interesting people to serve, inc. author of Guadalcanal Diary. 1945. 508 served at Canteen (inc. 8 flights). Busy. Mrs. Callaway drove, so home at 11:15. Sewed lavender Guild apron- cut 2 yr ago! Letter from Elsie. Frank saw her in Manila. 33.6° 69° 1946 We went with Mr. Carrington Goodrich and J.O. Hunter in UNRRA Dodge pickup to Tung Chao for the day, in Congregational Compound, native church, thru the Jr. High school, etc. Dinner at the home of 2 of the Cong. missionaries. Also out to the Christian Cemetery. Back about 6. I took 2 Kodachromes- girls at school for Chinese country girls- + "mum" with 5 colors of flowers.
