October 29 1942. Baked bread and honey cookies. Washed last 5 windows outside + put in pantry storm window. Walked to Ph. Branch school for Mothers' Club. Worked on plans for 4H + women's club, wrote Christmas card to Royal Steen, V letter to Wayne in London. 1943. Indigestion from 3:30 for a couple hrs. Washed 40 gallon honey pails for Frank, who is extracting. Made most of his pajamas. Baked apple pie. Hans home by 6. 1944. Got telegram at 9:30 that Hans' father not expected to live (he died at 4). We packed washed, ironed, made various arrangements; got cash money from Hilda + Paul Hanson. Hilda took us to train, Liberty Limited, 5:20.We were lucky to get a Pullman, lower berth. 1945. Washed, inc. red blanket. Wonderful day. Feel lack of ambition from an infected tooth. Rec'd several letters. Visit from masked Hallowe'eners. Dan Hallock, just discharged, Ellen Story + her room mate, Grace Saylor, spent evening here- 8-10:30. 34.8° 68.4° 1946 Shopped for some red Peiping carvings + found bookends + stamp box for Frank's Christmas + birthday in Ching Hsing Cloisonne factory shop in Tung An market. Left watch for new crystal. After nap + reading dansk, Hans + I finally packed Christmas box, mostly kimonos. Also silver bowl for Sider's silver wedding.
