October 30 1942 April Showers. Went to Madison 10-5. Got abstract of title to our place. Got 1-act plays. Visited Rev. Stanke in Meth. hosp., Mr. Meyer + Mr. Dasch in St. Mary's, + Doris Weideman in Wis. Gen. Saw "Wesley". Tired. 1943. Cleaned up the house. Hans + Frank in Madison. Lunch alone. Doris + Janet came. We planned 4H dinner. Shopped in Middleton. 14 of us went to 4H Achievement of 7 Clubs in Verona. I rode with Buss'. Shower. 1944.Half hr. late in Chicago, so missed the Zephyr to Savanna. Took next train, got there at 2. Hitchhiked to Mquoketa- with 3 diff. autos. Ham sandwich in Preston. To the folks by 5. Olga and we stayed over night with grandma. 1945. Grand day. Ironed. had only about 4 hrs. sleep- both tooth + tummy bothered. Dan + Hans took our tire + his to Esso station to be certified bad. Ellen here, then all had lunch here. I had a bridge sawed in 2 and a tooth pulled, by Dr. Smith of Sterling [Mouth?] "Dental Hospital", which I had difficulty finding. Got lovely Kashmir shawl from Signe. 1946. At 9 I went with Mr. Lewis to the home of Mr. + Mrs. T. F. Rasmussen, Danish missionary in China for 30 yrs. Coffee + cookies! Lilly is to help me shop Sat. Hans mailed out our box to Hilda, with a movie projector, kimonos, etc. Went to Marine PX at Am Consulate + got pineapple juice, orange juice, + Drano. Also stopped for my watch with new crystal.
