November 3 1942. Didn't sleep till 1:30. Up at 6. Ironed, mended. Frank home. Woman's Club voted $10 for CRC + $10 for curtains at Truex Field dayroom. Kathryn helped cut up old kitchen linoleum + lay new one. 1943. Awake most of time form 4. Hans + I went to Madison on 10 AM bus, bought his suit + o'coat, my brown shoes, scarf, hose; parasol for Hilda. Mrs. Shaffer washed storm windows + Hans put them on. We dug 1 1/2 bu. carrots. I dug glads. 1944.Up before 6 for a change. Grandma packed up some of her belongings, having decided to sell her place. We helped, as did Wilbur, Paul, + others. Carl Hartvigsen came for us- supper there. Read dansk, helped with boxes for box social at Buckhorn Baldwin Ladies' Aid play. 1945. Partly cloudy. Begged off from Airport Canteen for today. Cut out and made 2 green dimity aprons trimmed with brown ric-rac. Cut out 2 blue gingham shirts for "Wes" W. and made most of them. 33° 55° 1946 The "Peking Dust" we had for dessert last eve did not agree with me (ground chestnuts). I pasted a lot of pictures in Hans' Agr. Scrapbook of China. We took a little walk, then sun quit shining. Nice to have some heat.
