The Rabe family, Rev and Mrs. Stanke here for supper and Weidemann's came later. To bed at 12! Kathryn came out. 1944 45 degrees 54 degrees. We slep well on train - I had taken a Nembutol - first for ages). We all ate early dinner on diner, took naps, read in dansk Alamanak. To Washington at 5:00. Very chilly wind. Hilda took us out home. Hans' mother slept with me. 1945 54 degrees Dan came in AM and took Hilda's sewing machine, end table, corner shelf, green vase, etc. Nice chance to get them to her. To Pub. Sp. Bureau mtg in Utilities and Capt. Levy spoke on 91 Bill of Rights. We began work on plays. Since Red Cross is to sew and knit for DP's, I went to Eastern area to try to find machine to show our slides. 1946 43 degrees, 47 degrees. Dressed and ate all my meals in dining room - but lightly! Wrote letters, got books from library, read "In Pekin" - a [illegible] English-written novel. Hans went to hospital and Marine P.O. Rained most of forenoon. Warm bath for once downstairs.
