1942 Sunny. Home all day for a change. Mended, narrowed Hans' corduroy pants for Frank, sewed green wool dress for Sandra Bell from K's, wrote Helen and sent Geo. [Hise's?] obituary to Dora with Ed Rexroth's obituary. 1943 Hans stayed in bed with a cold. Went to Penn. office and brought my reservation. Fell on street and sprained left elbow badly. Lunch at Hilda's at 1 after she and I attended Armistice Day services at Tomb of Unknown Soldier. Just read in P.M. Sig went to Cotton's with us and Paul for dinner. 1944 Sunny but windy. Dry cleaned skirt and dress for Hilda's and bunch of Hans' neckties. Grandma and I to Alex. - got Signe's first instalment of afghan yarn off. Made oatmeal cookies, crocheted, took nap, read dansk and deutsch. 1945 Slept 9 hours, really needed. We walked to church; good sermon on "A Perpetual Armistice". Wrote Aunt Addie, typed dansk letter to Nettie Brandt, we wrote Frank. To 403 in J.P. Jones, then Ellen and Grace Saylor went with us to Union Methodist where Hans gave talk and his German pictures. Saw several who were here last Christmas eve. 1946 36 degrees, 60 degrees. Wrote more letters. In P.M. went to the Rasmussen's on Morrison St. In eve I went with Mr. and Mrs. Christensen to Mr. Goodrich's lecture in main building on the Chen Dynasty (1027 - 256 B.C.
