Shopped in P.M. mostly Woodward & Lothrops. Rode in car pool with M L Wilson + Francis Flood to Likerts for dinner. Back to Hilda's to sleep. 1944. Heavy frost. Hans' mother helped me wash- nearly thru before any one else came down. 3 lines full. Baked bread, we drove in for alcohol in car. Hilda out in eve. 1945. Awoke at 5:30 at Savannah, Georgia! having traveled thru both Carolinas without being aware of it. Our coach changed to local train across Florida at Jacksonville. Saw first palmettos, cypress swamps, palms, poinsettas, orange groves. Read + worked a long crossword puzzle. Arr. at St. Petersburg about 7:30, an hour or so late. Called Story's and we stayed there. 30° 1946 Sunny-dried clothes in 2 hrs on roof. Letter from Signe in AM- Hilda in PM, also from grandma, Aug + Anna. No heat nor light in my room. In P.M.
