1942. Gas rationing begins. More snow. Baked cake. Ironed some. Hans + Frank took me in to Woman's Club - short program. Christmas pictures. Z, F, H, + I played 500. F + I won - 2 games. 1943. Ironed curtains + hung them, baked bread and apple pie, mended. Took nap. Rev Reiff called here to buy our place for a friend. Frank on split shift - home for lunch. 1944 Helped grandma make apron for Amanda + made dress for Rosemary. Finished crocheting apron for Helen + started bootee for Owen Skott. 32º 45º 19 Awake from 3:30 on. Mended hose, worked with Mrs. Sarnen only, at airport Canteen 6-11. Served 320; only 2 flights. Took nap. Copied revamped play "24 Hrs. a Day" in eve - in triplicate. Very cold + windy. 1946. Rain in night - yet some rickshaw men barefoot. Street riots yesterday prevented our having UNRRA bus to go to church. Breakfast with Johnson of Cowin, [illegible] lunch with J. Hunter + C. Deyoe. Wrote a few letters. In eve with Johnson to Elvin Duerst's apt. in Park Hotel where he showed many Kodachrome views - in China, Montana, etc. Met 2 armored cars on Nanjing Road, saw 4 broken plate glass windows.
