1942. Still cold, around zero. Sewed some. Wrote Hans. Had car full in eve to Jr. play - Shirley Juanita, John Miller, Ray Mc, Z, K, F + I. Jane Zentner leading lady. 1943. Fine + sunny. Washed 3 pr. union-alls, etc. To Guild Bazaar in P.M. Sold plants ,cards, etc. Zillie + Frank came for supper, too. Telegram came for Jay. Hans telephoned from W. in eve. 1944. Washing froze on the line, for first time. I walked to Alex. by 1, shopped in dime stores + waited in 2 lines at P.O - 15 in each. Hilda out in eve to finish her show of Iowa Christmas box. Began Christmas letters. 39º 44º 1945 Rain in night. I drove to Alex. twice - with Hans in A.M. for pkgs. at P.O. + in P.M. to W.S.C.S, where Circles A, B, + C drew. I shifted from A to C + was elected Sec. Mrs. E. Burton Williams read a Christmas story "The Mixer" by Lillian Sharon. Our new Pres. Mrs. Barr of Abingdon rode out with me, also Mrs. McIntyre. Sent green apron to Dora for her birthday. 1946. Milder. I walked to Municipal Police Bureau, 185 Foochow Road and recovered our passports. Hunted up Viola + Margaret Riley. Supper with RM Lewis + JA Hunter + farewell: each in the morning they are to fly to Taiyuan and Peiking.
