1942. Juanita helped, luckily, as I had indigestion. I baked bread, choc. chip cookies, + apple criep. Frank did my grocery shopping. Finished Helen B's dress. Slept 9 hrs! 1943. 60 at S.S. Zillie + I walked to Zentner's then rode in with Jane. Heard we made $200 at bazaar. Jay phoned from Madison, and I read him his telegram. Wrote E. Whitson, cards to Miells + Juanita who have sc. fever 54º 1944 Through ironing by 10. Baked bread. Walked to Ale. to bank, got sympathy card for Edna Walker - her mother died. Finished bootees for Owen. Helped stretch Grandma's crocheted doilies. 31º 34º 1945 Rainy + cold. Signe + I washed + hung clothes inside. Cleaned both floor. Baked bread. She + I went in to Capitol Theatre to see "Our Vines Have Tender Grapes", with Margaret O'Brien. (Wisconsin scene). Rode in with Mrs. Counsilor. 1946. Went to China Inland Mission, 1531 Sinza Road - but no Mrs. Schrag there! Had tea with Bishop Houghton, director. Walked back - 1 1/2 hrs. Took 2 pics, our first for 10 days or so - a tiger bone Dr. + a pancake maker. Got our first letter - 6 of them! since Nov. 20. A Chinese girl does our laundry.
