December 22

1942  Ironed, mended, mailed Adele's package, went to Middleton with Frank in P.M. - Mrs. Davis, Dean and Buddy went with us to 1st Comm. Christmas party in Civic Park - paper said 700 there!

1943  5 deg.  Finished Trimming Christmas tree. Took morning nap. Baked apple pie. Car froze up, so had it taken to Larry's filling station. Frank went to Morey's Christmas party at the Chanticleer.

1944.  Wrote Sig, then grandma and I made filled cookies, choc. fruit drop cookies & fruit bars (some Christmas tree shape). Got pkg from Kathryn. Mailed one on from her to Helene. Snow last night stayed on. Borrowed 4 chairs from Wakefield's. Stored screens.

1945  Awake from 3:30 on - till just before alarm went off! Picked up a ride to the airport at 7. Worked alone for 3 hrs. in Canteen as Motor Corps broke down. Finally Capt. Health gave me a negro dishwasher. Hilda, Marie [Loving?] and Dan H. arrived 3:30 driving thru since yesterday. They couldn't find Kathryn in Chicago. 

1946 Hans stayed in bed with GI trouble.
