Clara Steen Skott diary, 1942-1946

December 26

1942  Slept 9 hrs,+.  Rained nearly all day. Wrote Helen, Elsie. Read all of "We Took to the Woods".

1943  Only 29 at S.S. Darlene and Carol Kohl came out with us for a week. They and K and I  played dominoes and anagrams. Walked to 9:50 bus with K. Baked 2 cakes and made jello for Frank's birthday party after he treated boys to movie.

1944 Back to "normalcy" - baked bread, washed hose, wrote Sig and Frank, Olga and started a second Skott circle letter. Proof read Hans' dried milk report most all eve. Rev. and Mrs. Clarke called in P.M.

1945  45 deg. I did some washing. Snow from 1 week ago practically all gone. Pkg. for all of us came from the Siders family. K and I exchanged its soap and stationery! Mended. Hans, K, Sig and Marie went to Viking Club lutefisk dinner and heard Sec. of Agr Clinton Anderson. We could get no tickets to hear Ethel Barrymore.
