1948 Hans + Fred Goth finished built in wall desks in nook + "Wren's Nest." Closet shelves + poles being put in. K + I bought kitchen linoleums at Ward's + ordered wooden sink cabinet at Fritz'. She went on 12:40 bus to Maquoketa. Another busy library day - again 10dt [?] 1949 More long hours of work with the freshmen. Just Srs. had exam - Sophs. made pinwheels, checkerboards _ hearts from cookie dough. Heard White Hussars in H.S. lyceum concert in eve. Awake at 5 1949. Three ironing by 10. Sewed top of blue paisley dress for Hans' mother, then set in sleeves of Kathryn's bed jacket + bound it. Finished "A New Song in a Strange Land" by Esther Warner. Frank went to cranberry country about 11. -12º 1951 Hans got stuck in drift in driveway, but we made it to bus station by 7. He went to Oshkosh - I took Henry Uold in to St. Mary's at 8. Minnie was operated on 9-10:15, then we came home. I paid taxes + bills, sewed on gabardine dress, baked bread. At Guest Nite, Newcomers' Club, heard Atty Pett on "Behind Iron Curtain" 1952. Did my ironing. Stamped Dutch girl design on organdy kitchen curtains + began one. Phil Smith here to see Hans in eve.
