MARCH 27 8 or 9" snow! 1948. Take up white woman's burden of scrubbing bathroom floor, cleaning dusty floors, etc. Quite busy in PM at library, but readied more books. Sig here for early supper, went back on 5:50 bus. I shopped at Kroger sore before evening library. No workers here today. 1949. Signe and Mary Frances Wheeler, West High Eng. teacher spent day with us. After dinner we napped. I darned 10 pr. hose for Frank. Back to Muscoda in eve. (Signe lined up pink shirt) 59 degrees 1950 Sunny till mid P.M. then March wind. Walked downtown twice, and - without rubbers - to call on Mrs. Johnston, recovering from operation. I cut out 5 white choir robes, sewed on 1. Finished last week's mending (no grandma here). 1951. When finished ironing at 9, Mrs. Hallock called, and we spent an hour taking flowers to Mrs. Morgan and Lois Johnson. Baked bread, cake; packed and sent box of yarn, clothing, honey, lard, to Kniep's. Slept 1 1/2 hr. in PM. 1952. [Then?] washing before 10. Hung most outdoors. First ones froze. First day not to receive a sympathy card. Got Branch journal pages to balance! In eve wrote a dozen notes and cards. 1 hr. nap in PM - first this mo.
