APRIL 17 1948 Baked bread and cookies, painted new "apron strip", etc. blonde, and philodendron trellis green; Hans painted upstairs windows on outside. Chilly. Steps begin to look nice. Had time at library to read new books and start list of books to order. 1949. Didn't sleep well, so slept till past 8:30. Signe came out 9:30 bus, till 5:55. Frank sent Easter lily. Hans and I called on the Daniels'. 72 degrees 1950. Washed by 9:30, defrosted freezer, raked curbing on Bristol. First time this yr. to hang all clothes outside. Warmest this year. Hans to Kenosha for week. Letter from Agnes K. Girls have been sick. Began letter to her. Got box pralines from Sig. She's back, last eve. 1951. To Club Convention at H.S. in new gym from 9-4. Mrs. Hudson and I timekeepers with Ed. Kromrey's stop watch. Saw Mrs. Stauke, Mrs. Raffaele, 215 in attendance. Guild in eve. Re-elected [name] pres. 71 degrees 1952 Cleaned up apt. Got lunch for Sig, Marian Dunn and Loraine Chandler, who left for Fort Sill, Okla. etc. Took car to Larry's for a bit of repair, called on Deone. Wrote review of "The China That is to be", and danish letter.
