MAY 18 1948 Did 2 blankets with washing - thru by 10. Painted 6 screen frames Hans made, 1st coat. Hans dug up flower bed in front of Elmwood entrance and I planted lemon lily, etc. 1949. Got up easily for first time this week, but May breezes blew an ache back into my back. Sr. dems. and reviews. Finished reading "Wakefield's Course". 1950 Painted stool legs third coat, so chilly painting north screendoor. I quit. Made 6 machine buttonholes in Signe's green linen. Mrs. Roberts and granddau. Margaret came in PM and took us for ride along lake. Nice day. Walked downtown in AM. Saw cowslips trees leafing. Frank to Poynette beeyards. 85 degrees 1951. Hans drove to Madison. 3 in. more rain. I was awake 12-3 AM. In bed part of AM. Repeated ascorbic acid and threat massage helped and I got up, packed, and at 3:35 we all left in car. Mary Frances Wheeler went along, took Waterloo bus at Dubuque. Took Sig and K to Teeple's. About 10 we got grandma at Oskar's and stayed overnite c her. 1952. Sunny but still chilly. I did not add to crowd at Baccalaureate, but went to S.S. only. Slept 11 to 5, but tired, and rt. eye hurts. Wrote 6 letters. At Flower Show to get my violets. Gave Margaret Baker Hubbard 2 leaves of white.
