MAY 21 1948 Painted screens for 3 hours in garage - then while we ate lunch, some youngsters threw sand on them! Hans set in place for flag pole in N. yard - and they filled it with dill; he reset it. I got flag and rhubarb at W's. 1949. Felt good till I cleaned apt. and sowed marigold seed (my only gardening). Mr. Vold put in a little garden. K and I shopped. Wrote 7. I got $3 for my "Making Middleton Better" by Woman's Club. 1950. Rode to church with the Lange's. Baccalaureate - 25 (of 52 in class) there. Rev. [Weirwill?] gave good sermon. Oskar's, Mother S Manfred here for dinner and Signe in PM. Kathryn went home with Oskar's, In PM to see $2900 silo at Meinholz' (hermetically sealed). 1951. Slept well; practically over cold. Hans left at 7 for Medford. K and I rode to garden, planted muskmelon plants, limas, fertilized corn, hoed peas, etc. Washed. Cloudy P.M. I set out 21 stocks, purple asters, scabiosa, amaryllis, gaillardia, 10 morning glories. 1952. Slept 5 hrs. Got up at 5. Got top soil and sand from 2121 and filled! Windowbox - [illegible] rubber plants, sonseveria, wax plant, ivy! Painted 2 1/2 hrs. Worked on Branch books in PM, baked marbled cream cake. Drizzly PM. K and I to see Mrs. Morgan in eve - laid up in chair with bad toe.
