Clara Steen Skott diary, 1948-1952

May 26

1948 Painted 2 screens before breakfast. Hans + I planted lima beans + potatoes, + I moved per. verbena, 3 iris, 3tc. in. Tired from digging. Wrote Aunt Addie, whose hurt her right arm. 
1949. Sunny A.M. While Hans at Keith Hardy's, I drove to call on Elaine Jacobson + Norma Lewis. Now I cook lunches at home at noon. In PM + left Hans at Millers. I called on Janice Hicks - then on Delbert Miller's baby Susan - D.M. [illegible] in eve.
1950. Slept 9 hours or so. Moved some plants. Cleaned up apt. Finished voile dress except hem. Hans home from Alma at 4. He showed pics to 4 profs in eve in Madison. 
1951. Cut out blue-dotted dress, sewed on skirt. Too wet to do much outside. Vold's all left for Balsam Lake 7:30 AM. Walked downtown. 
1952. Fine day. Concrete was poured in the big basement walls. I washed, worked at Branch 2 hrs., worked in Hts. garden 1 1/2 hrs. Filled second porch box. Very tired.
