JUNE 5 1948 Busy cleaning, baking, much cooler and 1/2" rain. K and I set out her muskmelon plants at Wittenburg's after lunch. Busy library sessions. Frank home from Wautoma. 1949. Tired. Signe came at 10. K went to church with Shafer's. I baked caked, vacuumed rug. Washed hair, dried it in Kromrey's garden while she worked. To Muscoda by 9:30. Wrote '15 circle letter. 1950. Hans to Black River Falls at 9:30 with Ted Dresen. I worked in garden, washed and ironed, took nap, walked downtown, sewed. Anna May lined up 2 dresses for me. I put in new hem in rose [lemberg?]. Frank brought K. and Don S for 9 o'clock supper. 1951 Thru washing by 9:30. Mabel Goth brought me 12 lb. asparagus, about 10 pkg of which I froze. Went with Deone Rabe, Nora Engelbrecht and Alma Roberts to Homemakers Tea at Trousdale. Gertrude Hoffman spoke. Nellie K Jones and other worthies there. Furnace fire in eve. 1952. Heavy rain 4 to 6, then sunny and warm. Worked at Branch 3 hrs. Painted window frames in P.M. McChesney and men removed framing from basement walls, at last. In eve I planted garden south of Univ. Ave. garage, which Eddie Ziegler spaded.
