July 11 1948 97 degrees. Prof Richter of Rural Soc. Dept. preached. I cooked chicken. We and Frank here for dinner. Hans and I to garden an hour or so. Got fresh veg. 1949 Nothing special on board. 1950 Washed, inc. all of Frank's bedding and helped clean up his room for Kathryn. Put clean bottoms on its 2 chairs. Froze 2 pkg beans. Rose Utter called. Hot day. K and I went to Anna May's garden with her. K's day off from Larsons. 1951 Tacked striped material onto the 3 lawn chairs - now ready for use - only no fit weather! Cool, cloudy. Hans wrote he may be let out Aug. 1. Called on Mary Sholts. Got first reading circle books on China. 1952 Didn't sleep till 1, had to take 1/2 phenylbarb then slept till 7:40. Cloudy so painted south garage windows second coat and had big bonfire of tarry scraps. Slept hour after lunch. Dale here briefly. Downtown. Got and wrote 7. 1950 Washed
