July 18 1948 Kathryn came home from camp in PM. No church. I picked and canned 2 pt. beans, read all of "A Wish for Tomorrow". Mr and Mrs Karl Brandt here from Ft. Atkinson. We went to Lutheran ice cream social. Mr and Mrs Rentz here - want me to be Wallace precinct chairman which I can't, unfortunately. Kromrey here. Arranged to have the Weirwills here 6 weeks. 1949 Washed by hand and hung in Marie's tiny yard. Also ironed in P.M. Hans spent AM getting papers from Am. military to go to Germany, and PM getting John Shafer's book ordered. In eve we showed pics to Svend's brother and wife, and owner of pic projector and mother. 1950 Fine washday - thru by 9. K dyed curtains blue. I washed flower garden quilt, too. Canned 7 pt. snap beans. Nap in PM. K's day off - she called on Betty Millison. We saw "Cheaper By Dozen". 1951 Awake from 3 - Felt bad all day then drove downtown. Hans home from office at 2, also sick. Mended some. Napped. 1952 2-1/2 inches rain in night and AM. Painted 2 or 3 screens on last side in SW attic in AM and in eve frame for upstairs bathroom window and its screens.
