July 20 1948 Big rain at noon - most for months. Hans and Jay to Univ Farm on Hans' week of conference at Univ. We visited and I sewed sleeves of my blouse by hand. Frank came home at suppertime - slept on couch all night. Jay helped us in garden. I sprayed potato bugs and we got beans and kohlrabi. 1949 Hans spent AM finally getting our military passes from incompetent Hdqtrs. Eftermiddag sogdo ir fawel til Marie og rejste til Sommersted. (foreign language) Peter with us till he changed for (Uajena ?). Cold and windy trip on ferry across StorBalt (?) - 1-1/2 hours. 1-1/2 hrs. wait in Fredericia. Late at Leste but had to have supper. 1950 Delivered 6 guild $s - Sholts and Van T. and Walters, Salchenberger and Phelps. Mr and Mrs Robert Scott came in P.M. about 3. He will be Supt at Randolph. When he found K is qualified, he asked her to teach Home Ec. in Randolph. Hans home from Wautoma about 8. 1951 Still weak. Mended some and did some needlepoint. Got Christmas card orders from Mrs. Murray and Mrs Large. 11.75 so far. Hans worked in Richland Center today. K to Stoughton Fair. 1952 HOT. Made jello. Took Mrs. Murray to church. In PM I read in Harold Davilis' (?) "A Garden to the East", napped and rested. Very hot. Frank worked with bees. In eve Mr and Mrs Paul C. Degno came to look at house, will rent big apt. for them and family from Denmark. Ken Orchard here to begin final estate settlement.
