August 18 1948 Hans went early to get drivers' license. I rode to South Bldg. with Fred and Raymond Rossiter and 2 men. Lula Pearl saw me and I went to Adm. Bldg. with her and (Pu?) - Then Hans and I called on several inc. G. Baker, Mrs. Rost and Calliman, Shep Woolman. Lunch with Burton Baker. We each collected bulletins. Dinner at Glen Briggs' with L.P. Renner and Norman Wards. It rained. 1949 with us, where we had first floor front and breakfast, very good. Hr. Iben took us thru the old schloss, a very good museum. In PM we went in taxi, thru a mill, to Memmen's, gentlemen farmer's. Son can talk 10 languages, Eng, of course. Coffee. I got a pic. Have to sneak 'em in mostly as it is cloudy so much. Inga home in eve. 1950 Up at 6. Hans finished PMA at 10:30. K and I put away porch furniture and cleaning rugs and floor, packed and cleaned up. We left Balsam Lake at 11:05, picnic at Wayside table. Took turns driving 288 miles, home before 7. Tired. Chat with Volds. 1951 Baked cream cake, froze pt. spinach. Walked to Kenyon's with Christmas cards. Too crowded downtown to park! Hans and Frank completed form for garage foundation on Univ. Ave. lot. Saw 1952 Hilda back to work. I shopped downtown in Tacoma, walked back diagonally uphill. To office with Hilda after we had seafood lunch at "Top of the Ocean" by Puget Sound. On train 2:30. Over the Cascades again, too cloudy for Mt. Rainier. Carried my lunch again. Slept.
