August 21 1948 Home by noon - busy with unpacking trailer, etc. K and I went to garden for 1st melons and tomatoes, and beans. Found lice on limas and evidence of tomato worms. Washed 2 wks. supply of Frank's clothes in eve. He hung some. 1949 Taxi from Niebull to Lena Lorenzen's, on farm. Hans took her pic milking a sheep. Bought 2 sheep cheeses. Saw 1st washing machine 2 Fluchling families. Boy took us to Christian Jurgensen's, dinner, walk to oats field. Pic, walk to Broderns, ride in jumper to Klixbull, coffee at Thomasens. He took us to Jurgensen's and later to (Uphusen's?).. Train back to Niebull. 1950 Sunny and breezy AM dried clothes, ironed, baked peanut butter oatmeal cookies. Typed several MTT stories. Nap. 1952 Back on train again at 1:30 AM. Slept 2:30 to 6 and again. Landscape green again. On time at Portage, 11 AM. Sig and Marian met me. I drove home. Frank has cold. I cleaned stairs, shopped, picked limas, tomatoes, etc. Hot day. Good to be home.
