SEPTEMBER 6 1948 K to Columbus to visit Laura and Howie. Signe came on morning bus - Hans and I to church. 79 there. Baked apple cake. Many good melons still, also tomatoes and limas and sw. corn. Sig peeled and I canned 4 pt. peaches and 3 pt. tomatoes. 1949 Best bed yet in Hojskalehotel, Viborg. While Hans went to Heath Reclamation Assn., I went thru Donikirken with a Holland student who majors in English. I shopped a little, even tried on hats! Train via Herning, to Silkeborg where we stayed at Missionshotel (Grand Hotel). 42 degrees. 1950. Wore organdy dress in P.M. - coat in eve. Hans to Montello, taking Kathryn to Pardeeville to begin teaching Home Ec., Chem. and Science. Ironed, mended, walk downtown. Rode to Woman's Club with Mrs. Raemisch; took asters, calendulas, miniature bouquet, and an arrangement. Year as Sec. begins. Mrs. Post criticised bouquets. To my first mtg. of Comm. Council. 1951. Went with Kay Adams 3 hrs. or so and got $100 from places in Ph. Branch, DeCar, etc. for ads for Guild concert by "Musical Taylors". Tired. Went with her in eve to Zentver's. Slept about 8 hrs! 1952. Awake from 3:40 on. Got up at 4:40 and made 24 buttonholes in Sig's 3 uniforms, 36 in all. Types labels at office in AM, statements in PM. Frank registered for 2 classes at Univ. then to DeForest for most of night.
