SEPTEMBER 11 1948. I didn't sleep till 3, but kept going after 8 AM. K and I went to garden, got beans, melons, corn, tomatoes. I cleaned stairs and hall, bathroom, etc. Canned 20 pt. tomato juice. The Shafers (who moved in this week) picnicked out. 1949. We packed foot locker to check through. Fine sunny day. Had sweet corn for middag from seed Hans had sent to LERTE. About time I was ready for bed - 8:10 - found we were invited to Nicolaisen's for eve! Fredensborgs also there and her parents from Esbjerg. Coffee and 4 sorts of cake. 1950. Gloomy and chilly. Hilda and I went downtown twice. Washed nylons, etc. Sent K her pajamas and birthday card. Signe and I gave her quilted housecoat. Signe here for supper. I baked cookies. We played Canasta and 500. Aunt Minnie Vold upstairs for winter. 1951. After waffle breakfast, Boyers left for PM convention at Wash. D.C. I did the washing. Fine day. Like summer - I canned 10 pt. tomatoes, pick 3 pk. or more at Bell's. "Musical Taylors" brought posters. I took 2 to Branch. 87 degrees 1952. More lawn watering. Bot more nails for flooring.
