September 12

SEPTEMBER 12
1948. Didn't sleep 2:15 - 5, and felt too bad to go to church. Signe came at 9:30, and we canned 4 pt prunes and 15 or 16 qt. peaches. Frank didn't come from Black River Falls till about supper time. Hans and I to Muscoda by 9. Gave K. 2 pr. nylon hose for birthday.
1949. Final packing at Aunt Kathrine's. Letter from Signe. Taxi at 10:30 to Sommersted. Chris and Mette and Aunt K waved to us from field. Hurtigtog most of the way to Frederickshavn. Gorgeous sunset over Wensyssel. Saw Miss Anna Nielsen at Fredericia. At Beck's Hotel 7:30.
1950. Washed and ironed some. Brought in all clothes in mid-PM, it was so damp. Put a reel full in garage, ironed some. Hilda and I played canasta in eve. Hans left at and for West Bend for rest of week.
1951 Canned 12 pt. tomatoes, took 6 concert posters to downtown spots, ironed some, picked 1/2 bu. and pailful tomatoes at Chandler's of which I canned 13 qt. juice. Finished "White Man Returns".
1952. To Branch twice, worked with Les Huseboe 9 to noon. Went to Hts. garden for melons, etc., to Branch again, downtown, to new house. Oak floors completed, plywood on kitchen and bath.
