SEPTEMBER 26 1948 Didn't sleep 1-3. Began washing mostly for Frank at 6:30. Hans and I to church - front seat. Dr. Muchlmeier and E. Kalvestian here on church pledges. I ironed, packed. To Muscoda by 7. 1949 Set clocks back 50". A bad day with heavy swells. Hans sick abed all day. I took 3 Bramamines. Slept a lot. Didn't miss a meal. Read "Head of House of Coombe" by Frances Hodgson Burnett. 1950. Best sleep for nearly a week - in our own bed - 10-5. Up and canned 18 qts. tomatoes. Called on Mr. Lange twice but don't have to stay. Got 1/2 bu. snow apples from Vergie Anderson. We went with E. Kromrey in eve to Catholic Guest Night. Fine program: Middleteen quartet, C. Schwartz, [Lenory?] Luberg. 39 at 6AM 1951. Sent in to auto ins. co. report on brush on square yesterday. Mr. Miller brought 1 bu. tomatoes, which I washed and canned 4 1/2 qt. juice, Mother S helping. She picked a lot of flowers and made 5 bouquets. Overcast a pink pillowslip. 1952 Slept 6 hrs. or so. At 2121 Univ. 7:30 to 11:30 and 1 to 5, painting outside of 3 doors, and first coat on other 3 doors. Stairs put in, Sig's phone nook and east K. cabinets. Frank cleaned up yard, basement and upstairs. I drove to Peggy Gugel's twice. [illegible] painter.
